Subject: The Perfect Storm

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to send a short note to say an enormous thank you to everyone who ultimately made the 4 day venture across to Mt Kinabalu.
In the end we did not really even see the mountain due to the constant cloud and mist. We hit what I understand was the worst monsoon weather that the region has encountered and we took on the mountain as the 2nd largest group of people ever.
65 People reached Laban Rata (half way hostel) and about 30 tried to summit and only 2 stood on the ultimate peak. I think about 10 or more were within 100 metres and advised to turn back.

From the above you might think we would be disappointed. I can't tell you how far from the truth that is.
This was for me (and I believe many many others), the most incredible team and friendship building experience of my life.
It was really one of those "just had to be there experiences" to understand the teamwork, help, encouragement, distress, fear, tears, smiles, laughter & friendship.
We planned to go "beyond the comfort zone" and we stayed there for almost every minute and I really believe that so many of us are better people for the experience.

After such an event it can't just finish like that. We plan to have our closing ceremony on Tuesday morning 9th Oct at 9am.
Long Adventures will join us and bring the 30 minute movie of our event to share. We will also have the chance to issue the formal Mt K awards for those brave souls that attempted the summit. We will also take this moment to really personally and formally thank the gang from Long Adventures.

More details will follow. We will probably do this one at Pan Global but still need to confirm.
